2012 TRC Clinic Census


For 2012 TRC’s clinic saw a total of 786 wild birds, along with 20 raptors used in education programs or in the sport of falconry.  This is the highest number since 2005, and 87 more patients than 2011.

The breakdown is as follows by species: American kestrel  23; Bald eagle  119; Barred owl 45; Broad-winged hawk 58; Cooper’s hawk 126; Eastern-screech owl  14; Great gray owl 1; Great horned owl  103;  Long-eared owl 5; Merlin 11; Northern goshawk 2; Northern harrier 9; Northern saw-whet owl 24; Osprey 11; Peregrine falcon 22; Northern pygmy owl 1; Red-shouldered hawk  6; Red-tailed hawk  166; Rough-legged hawk 5; Sharp-shinned hawk 13; Short-eared owl 3; Snowy owl 8; Swainson’s hawk 1; Turkey vulture 10.
