TRC and Richardson Nature Center Summer Camps

TRC is partnering with Richardson Nature Center (Three Rivers Park District) for two camps this summer - Eagles, Owls and other Birds of Prey camp July 15-19th, and an Advanced Birds of Prey camp August 12-15th.

Eagles , Owls & Other Birds of Prey Camp

This unique camp brings together TRC educators and Richardson Nature Center naturalists to offer you this birds of prey discovery. Three days will be spent at Richardson Nature Center meeting live raptors, spending time in their habitats to observe behaviors, mimicking their hunting behaviors with a predator/prey game and learning some of the responsibilities of care and maintenance of injured birds. Two of the days, campers will be bussed over to TRC to gain exposure to some veterinary techniques to help injured birds, dissect owl pellets and meet a variety of Minnesota birds of prey. This is a great opportunity to get an experience with professional staff in the fields of veterinary and natural sciences. $340.

Advanced Birds of Prey Camp
We encourage campers to sign up for this camp once they have completed Eagles, Owls and Other Birds of Prey Camp (7/15-7/19) but it is not required. Once again, this camp will bring together TRC educators and Richardson Nature Center naturalists to offer you an in-depth study of birds of prey. Two days will be spent at Richardson Nature Center focusing on skills you will need to become a bird of prey handler and trainer. This will include: learning daily husbandry skills, behavior training
and presentation techniques. Two days will be spent at TRC, exploring the veterinary techniques necessary to help with medical care, rehabilitation and conservation of raptors as well as learning about the exciting sport of falconry and its impact on our world today. For a full week of birds of prey adventure, remember to sign up for the National Eagle Center Field Trip on 8/16. $300.

  1. All that kids of this generation do is to quickly find sometime and jump in front of their video game sets.
